History/Background Information: A scarce gold 1 Pond struck in the ZAR in the year 1894. Struck to the same specifications as the British sovereign. Struck shortly before the second Anglo-Boer War.

Condition Notes: Truly Mint State, with a sheath of satin across the whole of the planchet, desirable amber-hued coloration with hints of toning at the peripheries, and bold detail for the type.
